Calligraphy And The Handwritten Note

February 10th, 2012

Lesley and I have been doing a lot of prop shopping lately for an upcoming (super exciting) photoshoot. Lesley came across these letters from the 1920s at an antique shop one weekend and I’m so glad she picked them up! I started reading through them (I admit, hoping they were love letters) and although it was fun to get a glimpse of someones world, they were really very ordinary letters.

It’s funny that handwritten letters are even IN an antique shop! This is a perfect example of how special receiving an invitation in the mail these days can be. It’s also why we always recommend hand-addressing your envelopes or hiring a calligrapher rather than printing labels. Lesley has been working with her calligrapher Linda Klopp for years. Linda just dropped off a few orders of envelopes perfectly addressed and I’m in awe of her work every time!
